The Ask:
American Express wanted to show up during Miami Art Week to continue building authentic equity with the Black, Gen-Z and Millennial, Ever-Evolving audience and establish Savor & Soul as a premiere calendar event for the company.
The Insight:
While the number of Black patrons at Miami Art Week has increased exponentially throughout the years, the number of Black artists and vendors featured has remained relatively low. So what if American Express could spotlight black artists, black chefs and create a safe space at Art Basel that celebrates black culture?
The Concept: The Amex Brunch
In collaboration with Blacktag, a global platform and network of Black creators, we brought people together to celebrate community and Black contributions to the art world with the newest edition of The Amex Brunch. Through featuring works from Lloyd Kofi Foster, expertly curated bites by Chef Akino West, and vibes from DJ Jash Jay, we were able to attract guests from all corners of black culture, from actress Yvonne Orji to stylist Kollin Carter and beyond.
